SCX.ai Listing on ASX

SCX.ai lists on the ASX today (ticker: SCX). I figured some people would want to know what we are actually doing and why it matters, so here it is.

The Thing Nobody Talks About

Every time an Australian government agency, a bank, or a healthcare provider runs something through an AI model, there is a decent chance that query is being processed in Virginia or Singapore.

That sounds fine until you look at the US CLOUD Act.

American authorities can demand access to data held by US tech companies, even if that data is sitting on a server in Sydney. Most people do not know this. Most procurement teams did not know this until recently. Now they do, and they are asking harder questions about where their data actually goes.

For a growing number of organisations, the answer to that question matters a lot.

AI capacity for Australians should not be a privilege reserved for those who could afford to send their data offshore to hyperscalers half a world away. We believed that from day one, and we still believe it.

What We Built

SCX operates Australia's first sovereign AI inference node (Node 1) — deployed at Equinix SY5 in Sydney. Our Node 1 runs on Australian soil, under Australian law, on infrastructure we control.

We are not trying to out-AWS AWS. We built this for the organisations that cannot send their data offshore without a very good reason. Government agencies. Financial services. Healthcare providers. Regulated industries.

The hardware underneath is the SambaNova SN40L ASIC. It delivers up to 5.6 times the performance per watt of GPU equivalents, and it does not need water cooling. That means lower costs, faster deployment, and an infrastructure model that actually makes sense for a country like Australia — with its unique energy constraints and its commitment to a lower-carbon future.

Relying on high cost, big water and energy inefficient AI infrastructure at international prices will not give Australians the opportunity they need to compete in a world increasingly shaped by AI.

The platform is live. Customers are on it. Revenue is coming in. And with the support of investors through the IPO we are now fully funded to deploy Node 2 infrastructure starting in 2026.

Why Australia, Why Now

The market numbers are big. Frost & Sullivan projects the Australian AI infrastructure market will grow from roughly AUD $300 million today to AUD $3.5 billion by 2030. The global sovereign AI market is tracking toward USD $25 billion this year.

But the real driver is not the numbers — it is the law.

Australia does not have a comprehensive domestic data residency law. The CLOUD Act is not hypothetical. It is already operating. And while Microsoft, AWS, Google, and OpenAI are all building more capacity in Australia (which is good), adding servers in Sydney does not fix the underlying legal exposure for US-headquartered providers.

SCX sits in a specific gap: organisations that need to keep AI inference on Australian infrastructure, under Australian control, and do not have a credible local option. We are that option.

The Numbers

SCX is a new company built with this new approach to AI infrastructure at the core. We are raising $40m in our IPO — and our use of funds is clear — we will be building out Nodes 1 and 2 and investing in the team and the technology to put that amazing infrastructure to work.

So the ASX listing gives us access to the capital we need to keep building — more sovereign inference capacity, more enterprise integrations, more sovereign model development. And it does something else too. It lets everyday Australians choose to become part of this story — making AI investment available not just to venture capital and private equity, but to people who see what we see: a massive shift in how AI infrastructure is delivered, and a company built to win that shift on terms that actually work for Australians.

The long game is simple: become the default choice for any Australian organisation that takes data residency seriously. Government agencies with sensitive workloads. Financial services under APRA and ASIC oversight. Healthcare with patient data obligations. Any enterprise that has looked at the CLOUD Act and decided the risk is not acceptable.

The hyperscalers are not the enemy. They serve a huge market well. But that market has a segment — a growing segment — that needs something different.

That segment is ours.

Australia is having its AI moment. We built SCX for it.

Thanks for reading this.
